In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Most merciful God, we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
Almighty God, in his mercy, has given his Son to die for us and, for his sake, forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
God of heaven and earth, before the foundation of the universe and the beginning of time you were the triune God: Author of creation, eternal Word of salvation, life-giving Spirit of wisdom. Guide us to all truth by your Spirit, that we may proclaim all that Christ has revealed and rejoice in the glory he shares with us. Glory and praise to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
FIRST READING PROVERBS 8:1-4, 22-31
Does not wisdom call, and does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights, beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand; beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries out: “To you, O people, I call, and my cry is to all that live. The Lord created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of long ago. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth— when he had not yet made earth and fields, or the world’s first bits of soil. SECOND READING ROMANS 5:1-5
Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

PROFESSION of FAITH Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. PRAYERS of INTERCESSION
Drawn into the holy embrace of the Trinity, we lift our prayers for the wholeness of the church, the world, and all creation. A brief silence.
Abiding God, what are mere mortals that you should be mindful of us, human beings that you should care for them? And yet, your Holy Spirit continues to call and gather a worldwide church which upholds and sustains us, teaches and guides us. Strengthen expressions of faith and give us hope. O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Creator of the universe, we are filled with awe at all you have made. Please renew this planet and all its wonders. Thank you for creating, sustaining, and redeeming the work of your hands and for sharing the living breath of your Holy Spirit. O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Sovereign God, you delight in the whole human race. Give us your eyes to see the equal value of every individual minus the influence of prejudice, favor or discrimination. Grant us your wisdom, so that all people, especially those in authority, work for the greatest good of all. O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Compassionate God, your loving comprehensive care for us is everlasting. Give peace to all who are troubled, endurance to all who suffer, deliverance to all who are afflicted, and healing to all who are sick (especially those on our prayer list). O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Holy, merciful, heavenly Father, give fathers and all those who provide what fathers do: financial resources, shelter, wisdom, advice or other aspects of balance to a family’s life, the capacity for both gentleness and strength. Afford them respect and dignity according to their merits. Heal wounds within families related to failure or absence. Comfort those for whom this day brings pain. O Lord, help every father figure to reflect you in all that they think and do.
Eternal God, we give thanks for the truth and certainty of your word, which gives all who die with the hope of resurrection, a lasting peace. Hold us in our grief, and bring us at last to fullness of life in you. You made us a little less than divine; with glory and honor you chose to crown us.
With wisdom, we rejoice in your inhabited world and delight in the whole human race. Gather our prayers and apply your mercy to all of our concerns, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, [+] in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
