ANNOUNCEMENTS
PRELUDE
BRIEF ORDER OF CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS
Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, who forgives all our sin, whose mercy endures forever. Amen.
Let us confess our sin and come to God for healing. Silence is kept for reflection.
Gracious God, have mercy on us. We confess that we have honored you with our lips, but have harmed our neighbors with our tongues. The cravings at war within us cause conflicts and disputes. In our desire to be first we make distinctions among ourselves. We place the needs of the poor and the suffering last. In your great mercy, forgive us our sins. Draw near to us with grace in time of need, and turn us to follow in the way of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
God promises to forgive our iniquity and to remember our sin no more. By grace you have been saved. In the name of ☩ Jesus Christ, the source of eternal healing, your sins are forgiven. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
Everlasting God, you have wonderfully established the ministries of angels and mortals. Mercifully grant that as Michael and the angels contend against the cosmic forces of evil, so by your direction they may help and defend us here on earth, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God whom we worship and praise with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven, now and forever. Amen.
FIRST READING DANIEL 10:10-14; 12:1-3
A hand touched me and roused me to my hands and knees. He said to me, “Daniel, greatly beloved, pay attention to the words that I am going to speak to you. Stand on your feet, for I have now been sent to you.” So, while he was speaking this word to me, I stood up trembling. He said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me twenty-one days. So Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I left him there with the prince of the kingdom of Persia, and have come to help you understand what is to happen to your people at the end of days. For there is a further vision for those days. “At that time Michael, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish, such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
PSALM 103:1-5, 20-22
🎶Bless the Lord, | O my soul, and all that is within me, bless God’s | holy name.
🎶Bless the Lord, | O my soul, and forget not | all God’s benefits—
🎶who forgives | all your sins and heals all | your diseases;
🎶who redeems your life | from the grave and crowns you with steadfast | love and mercy;
🎶who satisfies your desires | with good things so that your youth is renewed | like an eagle’s.
🎶Bless the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who | do God’s bidding, who obey the voice | of God’s word.
🎶Bless the Lord, all you | hosts of God, you servants who | do God’s will.
🎶Bless the Lord, all you works of God, in all places | where God rules; bless the Lord, | O my soul.
SECOND READING REVELATION 12:7-12
War broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back, but they were defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, proclaiming, “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah, for the accuser of our comrades has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. But they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to life even in the face of death. Rejoice then, you heavens and those who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you with great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Page 62
🎶Alleluia, Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Alleluia. Alleluia.
The Holy Gospel according to Saint Luke, the 10th chapter.
🎶Glory to you, O Lord.
GOSPEL LUKE 10:17-20
The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!” He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning. See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
🎶Praise to you, O Christ.

HYMN of the DAY
For the Beauty of the Earth #561
PROFESSION of FAITH Apostles’ Creed Page 65
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He decended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life-everlasting. Amen.
PRAYERS of INTERCESSION
Drawn together in the power of the Holy Spirit, we pray with confidence for the church, God’s good creation, and all who are in need. A brief silence.
We pray for people of God in all places. Shape our witness to the good news of Jesus that we joyfully share your transforming love with all whom we encounter. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
We pray for the healing of the earth. Renew oceans and seas, marshes and estuaries. Uphold the work of conservationists, oceanographers, and all who care for fragile ecosystems and habitats. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
We pray for peace and cooperation among local and global communities. Bless the efforts of community organizers, international aid workers, and all those who work for justice and peace around the world. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
We pray for all who are in any need. To all who grieve, bring consolation; to all who are weary or lonely, bring solace. By your grace, make your presence known among all who call to you for healing (especially those on our prayer list). Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
We pray for caregivers: doctors and nurses, home health aides, counselors, and those who care for loved ones. Sustain them in their work and help societies build wellness and health care into everyday life and to make the cost of wellness affordable to all. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
We give thanks for saints who now rest in your eternal presence most recently, Bob Motter and Bob Warfel. Have mercy on those who don’t know you. Humbly aware of life’s struggles, adventures and challenges we commend all who die to your loving care. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
O LORD, we claim no strength or redemption without you and ask you to always guide our words, the thoughts of our hearts and daily activities. Only you can perfectly revive our souls, enlighten us, keep us sound and whole, innocent of great offense. We entrust all of our concerns to you, holy God, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
